Ogden Stay
July 31, 2023 - August 26, 2023

Our Story

Long story short, we sold almost all of our possessions including our home, dropped our youngest off at college, and are now traveling the country. We're staying at Airbnbs about a month at a time while working remotely. Turns out, there is a significant discount if you book an Airbnb for a month or more!

See our first post "How the heck did we pull this off?" for more details about how we got started. If you have any questions, post them in the comments or contact us directly. We'll be happy to answer them!

Where are we now?

We're in Rigby, Idaho through November 17th so we can visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Next up is South Lake Tahoe and we'll be there November 18th through December 9th.

We'd love to see you if you're in the area!

Grand Teton National Park

Why Ogden?

Ogden is just outside Salt Lake City and also near Park City, which we've wanted to see. The mountains and scenery in this area are beautiful.

The Airbnb

Ogden Airbnb
Loved this one. It had lots of room and Caroline had the entire downstairs to herself. Beautiful and quiet neighborhood.

The Sears and Hayes

It's so much fun to be able to catch up with friends along our journey. During our Ogden stay, we were able to visit with the Sears and Hayes families. Lots of great stories and laughs with both families!

Brian and Elaine Sears happened to be in town at the same time. They were visiting their daughter Brianna and her husband Tommy, who live in Salt Lake City. So we got to have dinner with all of them and loved catching up.

The Hayes family lives just outside Park City. The Hayes children went to Windermere Prep where both Kim and Dave worked. Dave is tutoring their youngest, Riley. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with them in Park City.

Park City

We spent a weekend in beautiful Park City during the Park City Kimball Arts Festival. So, in addition to seeing the city and the surrounding areas, we got to enjoy a fabulous art Festival. (Videos are about 90 seconds long.)

Great Salt Lake State Park

Can't go to Salt Lake City without a visit to the Great Salt Lake.

"As the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi River and the largest salt water lake in the western hemisphere, the Great Salt Lake is perhaps the best known geologic feature in the area. The city even takes its name from the lake - originally it was Great Salt Lake City, but the "Great" was dropped from the name in 1868. The lake has a rich history, interesting features, plays an important role in the ecosystem, and provides abundant recreational opportunities."

Ogden Canyon

Another beautiful drive!

"Ogden Canyon is a roughly 6-mile-long canyon with a series of smaller side canyons in the Wasatch Range. It was carved by the 35 miles long Ogden River. The city of Ogden is at the western end of the canyon and Pineview Dam is on the eastern end." (Videos are about 90 seconds long.)

Provo Canyon

Yep. Another spectacular drive through Provo Canyon.

"Through forces of erosion, the Provo River has carved out the canyon over time. Attractions in Provo Canyon include Vivian Park, Sundance, and Bridal Veil Falls. The canyon is known for both its natural attractions and practical uses. Deer Creek Reservoir serves as water storage for Salt Lake and Utah Valleys. Provo Canyon has served as a route of transportation between the valleys to the east and west of the Wasatch mountain range."

Bridal Veil Falls

Taking scenic drives is one of our favorite things to do. The drive to Bridal Veil Falls didn't disappoint.

"Bridal Veil Falls is a beautiful natural waterfall in scenic Provo Canyon. It's easily accessible via a trail that connects to the parking lot. The trail to the falls is open year-round, although accessibility may be limited in the winter months due to snow."

Miscellaneous

We roof wherever we damn well please.
Try and stop us.

And that would be a wind turbine propeller.

Caroline had the entire basement to herself.
We dared not venture down without her permission.
